How do I order Smells online if I am not sure of how it actually smells?
Our advice to you would be to test designer fragrances in the shops to see what you like. When choosing fragrances, stick to similar fragrance families of the fragrances that you generally know and love (you can look for similar keywords in our inspired by fragrance descriptions on the website to guide you using the searching function).
Just remember that fragrances have different smells based on different skin types so it is always best to test it on your skin. Our products are made from 100% natural perfume oil and should be great for sensitive skin, but just to be safe we recommend doing a test patch on your skin first.
Start with a few smaller size perfume bottles, be patient, and just play! Variety is the spice of life - enjoy building your collection to match with our affordable Smells.
How do I get the most out of my Smells?There are a few tips and tricks that are important to ensure that your Smells linger for longer:
- Store in a cool, dark and dry place (like in your bedroom cupboard)
- Try spraying your Smells on your skin when wet
- Spray, don’t rub (Fact: Rubbing dulls the top perfume notes and mixes the oils with your natural skin oils resulting in a different smell to begin with)
- Spray in your hair for some extra drama as your hair is porous and retains scents (spraying directly onto your hair could dry it out, you could try spraying it on to your hairbrush before brushing your hair instead)
- Make sure you tick off our complete Spritz Checklist: Spritz behind your ears, nape of your neck, behind your neck, in your hair, on your chest, tummy, wrists, in the bend of your arm, behind your knees and on the inside of your clothes for a little extra. Voila!
How much perfume oil do you have in your Smells?
We specialise in Eau de Parfum and guarantee a perfume oil concentration of 20% that is of designer quality and is 100% natural. Our concentration is in line with industry average and results in an elegant and beautiful long lasting scent.
This is relatively high when compared with other types of perfumes:
- Parfum: 20% to 30% perfume oil (most concentrated option that may be too strong a smell for some)
- Eau de Toilette: 5% to 15% perfume oil
- Cologne: Less than 5% perfume oil
What are my payment options?
Currently we only accept payment by way of PayFast so that your credit card details are securely processed.
How does it work if I want to be a Smells & things agent?
We keep it simple and you are assumed to be an agent if your final order amount is more than R2 999 at checkout. You will automatically qualify for free delivery and a 10% discount on your order! Please note that you can only use 1 discount code at a time, so this automatic discount will not apply while other promotions are active on the website.
What are my delivery options?
Orders can be couriered to the vast majority of South African addresses. We place importance on speedy delivery to your doorstep. It is for this reason that the accuracy of the address included when placing your order is very important - most important being your postal code. Unfortunately we cannot offer courier delivery outside of South Africa.
Free delivery if your shopping bag's total is more than R999.
If you do not qualify for free delivery then the delivery tariff will apply at check-out: R99 for local deliveries (Johannesburg and Pretoria) and R115 for all other deliveries.
How long does delivery take?
We dispatch all orders, unless otherwise stated, within 2 working days of receiving payment confirmation. If you pay via credit card we receive payment confirmation automatically as soon as you've paid.
Courier delivery takes 3 working days depending on the order's destination. You should have your fragrances within 5 working days after payment.
Courier deliveries are made Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. There are no deliveries on weekends or public holidays. Please do not hesitate to track your parcel via the courier updates e mailed to you as well as on their website using your tracking number.
High order volumes, unexpected stock shortages and other unforeseen circumstances e.g. adverse weather, closed roads, strikes etc. could prolong the delivery time. This is rare but it does happen, so 'late' delivery is not a ground for refund or cancellation of the order. However if your delivery time is delayed, please contact us at email@example.com with your order number so that we can speed up the process. If we anticipate a delay in delivery time, we will contact you and keep you informed.
What happens if there is no one home when a courier delivery is attempted?
Courier deliveries are made Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, so you should always provide a delivery address where there will be an appropriate person to sign for the delivery during these times. If there is no one around to accept the delivery, the courier company will contact you via telephone so that a new delivery day can be arranged. After 3 unsuccessful delivery attempts, the goods will be returned to the factory and an additional delivery arranged. Additional delivery fees may be incurred and will be assessed on a case by cases basis.
Do I have to receive a courier delivery personally?
Someone at the delivery address can accept the delivery on your behalf. In order for us to prove that delivery of an order has been completed, we do not have to prove that you personally received the goods, but rather that a person at the delivery address signed for the delivery.
Can I track my order?
We will email you your parcel's tracking information when pick-up has been requested from the courier company. You can then track your parcel via the courier website.
Can we buy products from your stores?
We are an online business (and don't particularly love the shops) so you have to place an order with us through our website. For any queries please don’t hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What do I do if I receive goods damaged or broken in transit?
If you do not receive your order in perfect condition or if anything is broken or damaged please take a photo of the damaged item and e mail to email@example.com within 3 days so that we can remedy the situation. Damaged or broken goods are dealt with on a case by case basis.
What do you mean by a 30 day Smells Guarantee?
We take pride in our high quality product and stand behind our products with our 30 day Smells Guarantee!
If you are not satisfied with our product, you may return it within 30 days of receiving the item and we will refund you.
Please note that this does not apply to materially visibly used products. We do not refund original delivery charges on returned goods and delivery fees for the return will be for your own account.
As soon as we receive the goods and they are not materially visibly used, we will issue you with a credit note within 3 working days and will approve the refund via PayFast. PayFast refunds can take between 7 to 10 working days for credit card payments and 2 to 3 working days for instant EFT payments.

What do I do if I wish to cancel my order?
Please contact us at email@example.com should you want to cancel your order. We will cancel your order if it has not yet been dispatched for delivery (we dispatch orders within 2 working days from receipt of payment). Your refund will be approved on PayFast. PayFast refunds can take between 7 to 10 working days for credit card payments and 2 to 3 working days for instant EFT payments.
